Church Groups

​Book Club

The Portland Book Club is a long-standing group that brings people together for conversation, fellowship, and shared stories. We meet on the first Tuesday evening of each month (except during the summer) to discuss the book of the month and enjoy each other’s company. During the summer, members suggest books for the upcoming year, and a reading list is distributed each August.

In addition to our regular meetings, during the winter we now gather once a month after Sunday worship to share lunch and watch a movie, often related to a book the group has read. These gatherings provide a relaxed, social way to stay connected.
New members are always welcome.

Friday Fellowship Group

The Friday Fellowship Group meets each Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Portland United Church. This relaxed, welcoming gathering is a time to connect, create, and enjoy one another’s company.

During the summer months and in nice weather, the group gathers outdoors; in colder or wetter weather, they meet indoors in the Multi-Purpose Room. Some participants bring craft projects, while others come simply to visit and enjoy the fellowship.

The group began in the summer of 2020 as a way to stay connected and has continued to grow and evolve. All are welcome to join us.

Men's Fellowship Group

This group meets on Friday mornings at Tim Hortons (University Avenue) at 9:00 a.m. for coffee and conversation.

PUC Quilters

The PUC Quilters are a small but mighty group that meets on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. at Newport Village.  They create beautiful works of art for the community and the congregation.
