Portland United Church
A UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA
Saint John, New Brunswick
Our Story
Portland United Church (originally Methodist) has been part of the city of Saint John since 1826. A congregation of the United Church of Canada since 1925, the building and location have changed over the years, but the congregation has not in its commitment to serving our neighbours in the North End.

Presently sitting on a large log with plenty of parking and two affordable apartment buildings, we are in the process of planning another housing development on our property.

Our Sunday morning gathering is central to what we do. A traditional worship service with contemporary preaching is what you will find on any given Sunday morning. We enjoy hymn singing and appreciate a message that challenges us to be the people of God in the 21st century. Join us Sundays at 11AM for worship and Coffee Time before the service at 10:30AM. We have ample parking and easy accessibility into the building.

As well, we have numerous groups that meet on weekdays and evenings, including our church choir and two community choirs.

Our staff includes a minister, music director, office administrator, and custodian. Our finances are administered by a bookkeeper. We are governed by a Church Council chosen at our Annual Congregational Meeting.
