Sunday Worship
At Portland United, everyone is welcome. We gather for worship on Sundays at 11:00 am, and the service usually lasts about an hour. Our worship style blends traditional elements with a relaxed, informal feel.
Our minister-elect, Rev. Pierre Momberg, is in the process of completing the requirements to officially join us. In the meantime, we’re grateful for the leadership of our pulpit supply ministers — Rev. Dr. Ron Vincent, Rev. Dr. Elizabeth Stevenson, Erica Lane, and Rod Anderson — who bring thoughtful sermons that connect the Bible with everyday life.
Music is led by our Music Director, Barry Snodgrass, a talented organist and pianist who directs a 20-voice choir. You’ll hear a mix of traditional and contemporary hymns and anthems, and from time to time our handbell choir also joins the service.
A typical Sunday service includes a welcome and announcements, prayers, and an opening hymn. We take a moment to greet one another, share the offering, hear readings from the Bible, and listen to a sermon or reflection. The choir offers an anthem, and the service wraps up with prayers for the world, a final hymn, and a blessing.
Whether this is your first time or you’ve been coming for years, we hope you’ll feel comfortable, included, and at home.
